Because of adverse weather this week, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will need to schedule additional nights of work next week during late evening and overnight hours to finalize line striping at the new mini-roundabout it built at the intersection of Brown Street, Boston Neck Road (Route 1A) and Phillips Street in the village of Wickford in North Kingstown.
Work is set to take place Sunday night, November 2, beginning at 9 p.m. with lane closures requiring a single-lane alternating traffic pattern. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Additionally, trucks, buses and other large vehicles will be restricted from passing through the roundabout work area during these hours. The nightly restrictions may be necessary on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, November 3-5, as this final element of work is weather-dependent.
When the truck restriction is in place, RIDOT encourages operators of trucks to seek alternate routes, including Tower Hill Road (Route 1) and West Main Street to access Wickford village. Large trucks coming from points south on Boston Neck Road (Route 1A) are to follow a truck detour using Route 138 to Route 1.
The work zone will be accessible to all passenger vehicles. Local access to all shops, restaurants and residences on Brown Street, Boston Neck Road, and Phillips Street will be maintained.

All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings and weather.
