Press release No. 13 22.01.2026

General Vlad's participation in NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Vlad Gheorghiță, participates, between January 21st and 22nd, 2026, in the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session (MCCS), organized at NATO headquarters, in Brussels.

The meeting agenda includes strategic talks and briefings by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) on NATO's readiness to strengthen the Alliance's collective deterrence and defence posture in the face of common security challenges, and by the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) on how NATO can accelerate the delivery of relevant capabilities by supporting nations in adopting and implementing innovations at the right scale and pace. Also, the chiefs of defence will discuss the situation and continued support for Ukraine during the NATO-Ukraine Council; last but not least, global security challenges will be addressed, namely cooperation with partners in the Indo-Pacific region and Georgia.

The Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session(MCCS) is a high-level meeting of the NATO Military Committee, the highest military authority of the Alliance, which provides strategic advice to the North Atlantic Council and ensures coordination of the two structures' activity. This format allows the Chiefs of Defence to assess and harmonize Allied military policies and strategic directions, contributing to a common and coherent response to contemporary security threats.
