City of Evansville and METS to Offer Free Bus Rides on Election Day

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - November 2, 2026- The City of Evansville and The Metropolitan Evansville Transit System (METS) will offer free bus rides and METS Mobility services on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, helping residents get to the polls without worrying about transportation costs.

METS budgets for several Ride Promotion Days throughout the year to encourage ridership and raise awareness of public transportation. The Election Day initiative is made possible through this program.

"Every resident should have the opportunity to make their voice heard at the ballot box," said Mayor Stephanie Terry. "This partnership helps make voting more accessible and ensures transportation doesn't stand in the way of participating in our democracy."

Evansville voters riding METS may cast their ballots at any of the 17 polling locations within City limits, regardless of their home precinct. Residents are encouraged to choose the location that is most convenient for them.

"Public transportation helps connect people to the places and services that matter in their daily lives, and that includes getting to the polls," said Todd Robertson, Executive Director for the Department of Transportation Services. "We're glad to help ensure residents have the transportation they need to get out and vote on Election Day."
