Governor Phil Scott Appoints Kumulia Long to House of Representatives

Montpelier, Vt. - Governor Phil Scott today announced his appointment of Kumulia Long of Milton to fill the vacant Chittenden-Franklin seat in the House of Representatives.

"Kumulia is a dedicated member of his community and has served on and chaired his local school board as well, which will be an important perspective as we move forward with education transformation," said Governor Phil Scott. "I believe he'll hit the ground running in this role and look forward to working with him in Montpelier."

"I am honored to accept this appointment and would like to thank Governor Scott for the opportunity to continue serving my community," said Long. "This is a responsibility I don't take lightly, and I'm incredibly excited to get to work."

Long is a real estate broker, combat veteran, and former Chair of the Milton School Board. A resident of Chittenden County, he has spent more than a decade combining military service, civic leadership, and professional experience in Vermont's housing market.

Long has worked as a licensed real estate professional, primarily serving Chittenden County. He's also served on the Milton School Board, including two years as Chair. In that role, he helped oversee district policy development and management of public budgets. His approach to leadership is grounded in the research, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills he developed through both military service and real estate.

Long's appointment is effective immediately. A photo of Long can be found by clicking here.
