Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) event for eligible Long Beach residents in support of the Westside Promise, a 10-year community investment plan that aligns existing City efforts and leverages partnerships to address current and historic challenges facing West Long Beach. The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Silverado Park Community Center (1545 W. 31st St.), will offer income tax preparation and individual tax identification number applications at no cost.
The VITA program is available to qualifying taxpayers in Long Beach with an income level of $67,000 or less. Participating volunteers and organizations include the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) VITA Program, U.S. Bank, Westside Long Beach Advocacy Group, Los Angeles County Consumer & Business Affairs and Free Tax Prep Los Angeles. Those interested in attending can book ahead online or call 323.909.1975. Appointments are encouraged but not required.
VITA is a nationally recognized program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to serve individuals and families with low-to-moderate incomes. For more information about the VITA program, including items to bring to successfully file your tax return, visit the CSULB VITA webpage.
