City Projects

32nd Street, Avenue 3E to Arizona Avenue

A contractor for the City is landscaping the center medians along 32nd Street between Avenue 3E and Arizona Avenue. Work will take place in several phases. Currently there is a single lane closure in the Eastbound and Westbound directions on 32nd Street between Avenue 3E and Pacific Avenue.

Arizona Avenue, 17th Street to 24th Street

A contractor working for the City is replacing the water line on Arizona Avenue between 17th Street and 24th Street. Work will take place in several phases. Currently, Southbound Arizona Avenue is closed between 17th Street and 20th Street.

Avenue 5E, 36th Street to 30th Place

A contractor working for the City is installing a sanitary sewer line on Avenue 5E between 36th Street and 30th Place, Work will take place in several phases. Currently, Avenue 5E is closed between 32nd Street and 30th Place.

28th Street and Avenue C

A contractor working for the City will reconstruct the intersection of Avenue C and 28th Street, resulting in a full closure of that intersection. The work will continue with road closures on 28th Street through January 2026 between Avenue C and 45th Avenue, as well as between Avenue C and 33rd Drive.

Edenwood Estates pavement replacement

Beginning mid-August, a contractor working for the City will replace the pavement in the Edenwood Estates subdivision, which is southwest of 25th Street and Avenue B. The first phase of work will be the closure of Edgewood Drive from 25th Street through its south-end cul-de-sac, followed by single-block closures of Elmwood Drive, Fernwood Drive, Parkwood Drive, 26th Drive, 25th Place Greenwood Avenue, Olivewood Lane, Pinewood Lane, Oakwood Lane, and 27th Avenue from 24th Street to 25th Street. Estimated completion is in late December.

City Street Maintenance operations for the week of October 27 to November 2 will take place in the following areas.

Sanguinetti Manors, units 1 and 2.

Concrete Sidewalk Repair

8th Street from Clifford Way to Avenue B.

Ocotillo subdivision, units 4A and 4B.

Giss Parkway and Main Street.

Streets Crack Seal Repairs

9th Street and Castle Dome Road.

6th Street and Rio Vista.

7th Street and Rio Vista.

Rio Vista Drive from 9th Street to north End cul-de-sac.

October 27:

15th Place from 44th Avenue to the west end cul-de-sac.

15th Place from 44th Avenue to the east end cul-de-sac.

44th Avenue from 15th Place to 15th Street.

13th Place from 42nd Drive to 41st Drive.

42nd Avenue from 13th Place to south end cul-de-sac.

41st Drive from 13th Place to the south end cul-de-sac.

Other utility projects and encroachment permits

Smucker Park Basin project: Avenue A, Parkview to Westridge (Yuma County)

A contractor working for Yuma County is working on the Smucker Park flood control basin, which will at times affect Avenue A between Parkview Loop and 28th Street. The sidewalk on the west side of Avenue A is closed. Motorists on Avenue A should be aware of trucks entering and exiting the roadway on the north side of the park. Phases of work will include lane restrictions on Avenue A and a closure at Westridge. Message boards will be activated 72 hours prior to any such closure.

2nd Street Main Street to Maiden Lane, (Yuma County)

2nd Street from Main Street to Maiden Lane and Maiden Lane from 1st Street to 2nd Street will be closed to through traffic for continued work on a new building for Yuma County. The roadways are expected to reopen full-time by late October.

Fiber optic installations (Allo)

Communications line installations are taking place in areas designated for utility easements in numerous and various locations within the City limits and surrounding vicinity. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones in unexpected areas.

Avenue 3E, 32nd Street (CenturyLink)

Beginning August 7, CenturyLink crews will be accessing a manhole at the intersection of Avenue 3E and 32nd Street. Work will require lane restrictions. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is anticipated to be completed by mid-December.

24th Street, Carol Avenue to Mary Avenue (CenturyLink)

Through November 21, CenturyLink crews will be accessing a manhole at the intersection of Avenue 3E and 32nd Street. Work will require lane restrictions. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control.

Palo Verde Street, Pacific Avenue (private contractor)

Through early October, contractor will begin work to replace the existing handhole and install new conduit along Palo Verde Street and Pacific Avenue. This work will require lane shifts. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control.

Avenue A, 3rd Street (private contractor)

Through early October, a contractor will be performing driveway and curb reconstruction along Avenue A. Work will prompt lane restrictions.

Avenue 4E, 38th Street to 40th Street (private contractor)

Starting September 8, contractor will be installing water line along Avenue 4E between 38th Street and 40th Street. Work will prompt a road closure, and drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is anticipated to be completed by late October.

Ridgeview Drive, 24th Street (Pilkington Construction)

Starting September 22, crews will begin installing brick pavers on the west shoulder along the East Main Canal on West Ridgeview Drive, North of 24th Street. Drivers are advised to watch for traffic control signs and personnel in the area. Work is anticipated to be completed by mid-October.

Avenue B, 32nd Street (Yuma County Water Users Association)

Through late October, Yuma County Water Users Association crews will be doing maintenance work on existing irrigation box at the intersection of Avenue B and 32nd Street. Work will prompt lane shifts.

Avenue B, 8th Street (APS)

Starting October 15, APS crews will be removing existing overhead facilities in conflict with new development along Avenue B and 8th Street. Work will prompt lane restrictions and a reduced speed limit of 25 mph. Project is anticipated to be completed by late November.

4th Avenue, 32nd Street (CenturyLink)

Beginning November 7, CenturyLink crews will be accessing a manhole at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 32nd Street. Work will require lane restrictions. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is anticipated to be completed by late November.

24th Street, 8th Avenue (Pilkington Construction)

October 27-31, contractor will be connecting a main water line along 8th Avenue and 24th Street. Work will prompt a road closure, and drivers are advised to follow detour traffic control.
