On Jan. 5, more than 10 Golden Lasso Program establishments gathered at Bodega West 7th for a hands-on Stop the Bleed training - reinforcing their commitment to safety, preparedness and responsible hospitality.
With nearly 25 to 30 participants in attendance, bars and restaurants certified through the Golden Lasso Program - recognized as Certified Safety-Branded Entertainment Establishments - engaged in practical, life-saving instruction designed for real-world emergencies.
The training was facilitated by UNT Health's Texas Center for Patient Safety and the Level I Trauma Center at John Peter Smith (JPS) Health Network, whose experts guided attendees through three critical bleeding-control techniques:
Direct pressure
Wound packing
Tourniquet application
Participants also received critical education on Narcan (naloxone), including when and how to administer it in the event of a suspected opioid overdose. This expanded training ensures establishments are equipped to respond to multiple types of medical emergencies while awaiting EMS arrival.
This initiative reflects the Golden Lasso Program's broader mission: elevating safety standards across Fort Worth's entertainment districts while fostering a culture of vigilance, responsibility and proactive care. By investing in training and prevention, participating establishments are demonstrating leadership that prioritizes both guest experience and community well-being.
Golden Lasso Certification is more than a designation - it's a commitment.
Certified establishments demonstrate:
✔ A proactive approach to guest and staff safety
✔ Participation in specialized safety trainings
✔ Partnership with trusted medical and safety experts
✔ Alignment with responsible entertainment standards
✔ Leadership within Fort Worth's hospitality community
Golden Lasso venues are recognized as Certified Safety-Branded Entertainment Establishments, signaling to patrons that safety and preparedness are built into their operations - not treated as an afterthought.
