Ascension Vice President of Medication Management and Chief Pharmacy Officer Mike Wascovich has been named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2026 list of "Hospital and Health System Chief Pharmacy Officers to Know."
The annual list recognizes pharmacy leaders who are advancing medication safety, improving access to care, driving innovation, and helping health systems navigate an increasingly complex pharmaceutical landscape.
As chief pharmacy officer, Wascovich leads all aspects of Ascension Pharmacy Services, including medication management strategy, pharmacy operations, medication safety and quality, supply chain performance, and strategic partnerships across one of the nation's largest non-profit and faith-based health systems.
Under his leadership, Ascension has expanded an integrated pharmacy model that supports patients across acute, ambulatory, and post-acute care settings. Today, Ascension Pharmacy operates nearly 50 pharmacies across the country, serving more than 28,500 patients and dispensing more than 277,000 prescriptions annually. The model includes community pharmacies, specialty pharmacy services, home delivery programs, and embedded clinical pharmacy teams that help improve medication adherence and care coordination.
A key focus of Wascovich's leadership has been ensuring medications remain accessible and affordable for the patients and communities Ascension serves. Ascension currently operates 35 Dispensary of Hope sites across nine states, helping connect uninsured and underinsured patients with no-cost prescription medications. These efforts support improved health outcomes, reduce barriers to care, and advance Ascension's Mission, which calls us to serve all persons, especially those who are most in need.
