Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Zhao Weiping Hosts Press Meeting

On October 29, Ambassador Zhao Weiping held his second press meeting of this year at the Embassy, which was attended by journalists from 14 media agencies including the NBC, the Namibian Sun, New Era and the Namibian. The whole event was live-streamed by Namibia Daily News.

Ambassador Zhao briefed the Media Houses on the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Global Governance Initiative(GGI), the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women and the current status of China-Namibia relationship.

He pointed out that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC laid out strategic blueprint for China's development in the next five years, Chinese modernization will provide greater opportunities for the whole world.

He emphasized that GGI aims to promote the building of a more just and equitable global governance system and to safeguard the common interests of the Global South. China fully understands Africa's demand for the West to make reparations and redress historical injustices related to the slave trade.

He also mentioned that the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women further consolidated consensus and injected new momentum into the development of the global cause of women. China is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Namibia in various fields to support the country in implementing its Six National Development Plan.

Ambassador Zhao answered questions from Namibian media such as China's zero-tariff treatment for 53 African countries with diplomatic ties to China and China's support for rectifying the historical injustice against Africa.
