VIDEO: Cassidy Releases Statement, Joins Resolution Recognizing Two-Year Anniversary of October 7

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released a video recognizing the two-year anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attacks in Israel that killed over a thousand Israelis and Americans. Cassidy also joined U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) in introducing a resolution condemning Iran-backed Hamas for its actions, calling for the return of all remaining hostages, and supporting Israel.

"When you see the images and hear the stories of what families endured on October 7th, your heart breaks," said Dr. Cassidy. "We stand with Israel and against the antisemitism that fuels Hamas. Let's end the war with President Trump's peace deal."

Background

Cassidy applauded President Trump's work to develop a proposed peace deal between Israel and Gaza.

As Chair of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Cassidy is leading multiple efforts to address antisemitism on college campuses following the attacks. At the HELP Committee hearing on antisemitic disruptions on campuses, Cassidy launched an investigation into the Hamas associated American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) group for helping organize, support, and facilitate violent, antisemitism demonstrations that are disrupting college campuses across the country. Additionally, Cassidy introduced the Protecting Students on Campus Act, that holds universities accountable to address discrimination and maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
