USDA Rural Development Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Hospital in Delhi, Louisiana, with $79.1M Investment

(Delhi, La., Sept. 1, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Louisiana State Director Troy Romero joined Delhi Hospital today to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new hospital in Delhi, made possible with $79.1 million in USDA funding. This major investment will replace the community's existing outdated and undersized facility and expand access to essential health care services for residents throughout Richland Parish and neighboring rural regions.

"Breaking ground on this new hospital represents a major step forward for the people of Delhi and rural Louisiana," said Romero. "President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins are leading the charge to advance modern health care in rural America, and this investment ensures families have access to state-of-the-art emergency, surgical, and diagnostic services close to home."

The new hospital will strengthen regional emergency response capacity, modernize clinical services, and create an improved experience for patients and caregivers. The updated design integrates diagnostic imaging, surgical care, inpatient therapy, and rehabilitation under one roof to streamline care delivery.

"For rural communities, access to healthcare is not just about medicine; it is about preserving the health, vitality, and future of the community itself," said Delhi Hospital Interim CEO Jinger Greer. "The USDA Community Facilities Program has provided a pathway for our hospital to replace an aging facility and continue serving the residents of Richland Parish and the surrounding region for decades to come. USDA's partnership demonstrates a strong commitment to rural America and will help ensure that families in our area have access to quality healthcare close to home. We are incredibly grateful for USDA's support and belief in our vision for the future of healthcare in rural Louisiana."

This project is financed through USDA Rural Development's Community Facilities Programs , which provide affordable funding to develop essential community infrastructure in rural areas. Commercial Capital Bank of Delhi is partnering to provide a $9 million loan through USDA Community Facilities Guaranteed Loan Program. The remaining $70.1 million is provided through a direct loan from USDA.
