Nov. 29 - Dec. 23 | NEW! The Great Migratory Elf Hunt | Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
Join us for a magical outdoor adventure at the BVP with The Great Migratory Elf Hunt! Registered participants will receive a special map and sticker set to guide them on a self-paced scavenger hunt throughout the preserve. Each time you discover one of our mischievous migratory elves-place the matching sticker on your map. Once your map is complete, stop by the Bird Preserve Gift Shop to redeem it for a fun prize! Registration is $5 and is required to receive a prize.
Dec. 4 and 5 | WinterFest Tree Lighting, Drone Show and Holiday Parade | Water Street Plaza and along Water Street
Start celebrating the holidays on Water Street at Henderson's annual Tree Lighting with Mayor Romero! The evening will also include a live performance by Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand, Henderson Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet, Coronado High School Choir, a Holiday Market and spectators will be treated to a festive Drone Show in the sky to wrap up the evening. Enjoy as a spectator or join in on the fun and create a lighted float for the parade where you will have a chance to win a cash prize! Festivities are free for spectators; fee applies for parade entry only.
Dec. 6 | Santa's Workshop | Valley View Recreation Center
Drop the kids off with us so you can finish your last-minute shopping. At Santa's Workshop, children will make a take-home present and design their own wrapping paper. The event also features games, pizza and a whole lot of holiday cheer. Registration is $20 and closes Nov. 29.
Dec. 6 | Picture with Santa and Puppy Pictures with Santa | Black Mountain Recreation Center
Have you sent a letter to the North Pole yet? If you haven't, don't worry because Santa Claus is visiting Black Mountain Recreation Center. Your children and pup (dogs love holidays too!) will be able to meet Santa and pose for pictures. A digital picture will be sent to your personal email. You may also bring your own camera to take photos. Registration is $3.
Dec. 6 | Bird Mobile Tour with Santa | Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
Climb aboard the Bird Mobile, running every 15 minutes, for a cheerful ride with Santa and one of our expert birders. After your ride, take a peaceful stroll around the pond on our holiday-themed story walk, or warm up indoors with a cup of hot chocolate. Kids will get to make a holiday craft in our cozy classroom. All participants must be accompanied by a registered adult. Registration is $10 ages 5-10, $5 for adults (18+).
Dec. 13 | Reindeer Dash 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk | Cornerstone Park
Make a dash from Cornerstone Park to the Pittman Wash Trail this winter for a jolly good time. Participants are encouraged to don their most cheerful costumes or ugly holiday sweaters. Souvenir shirts will be provided for the first 400 participants. All fitness levels are welcome. 5K Run registration fees start at $35, 1-mile walk registration fees start at $25.
Dec. 13 | Candy Cane Dive | Heritage Park Aquatic Complex
Bring a swimsuit and celebrate the magic of winter with us! Festivities include games, a bounce house, treats, and our famous candy cane dive in the water. We will also be holding a gingerbread contest, so bring your best gingerbread house for the possibility of winning a prize! Kids can also get ready for the holiday season by writing and mailing a letter to Santa delivered by Rad Tad. Parents must be in the water with children under the age of 8. Registration is $5.
Dec. 19 | Parents Night Out S'MORE Santa Fun | Whitney Mesa
Enjoy a night out for holiday shopping while your kids take part in festive Reindeer Games! Children will embark on an outdoor adventure in nature alongside Santa, featuring exciting activities like hiking, s'mores, and stories by the campfire. It's a magical evening of fun and holiday cheer-just for the kids! Registration is $25.
Dec. 20 | Merry Grinchmas | Heritage Bark Park
Bring your furry friends for a Grinchy good time at Heritage Bark Park! Enjoy a festive afternoon as you and your pup meet and take photos with the Grinch. There will be holiday treats and pop-up agility courses for your pets to enjoy. It's the paw-fect way to celebrate the season with your four-legged companions! Festivities are free.
Dec. 20 | Winter Solstice Festival | Water Street Plaza
Celebrate the winter solstice at our Farmers Market Festival! Enjoy local vendors, planting activities, and support a great cause while embracing the season's charm. Festivities are free.
Dec. 20 - 30 | Escape Room Series: How the Grinch Stole Christmas | Downtown Recreation Center
Looking for something fun to do with friends and family? Each reservation time slot below holds a maximum of 10 participants from the same group. Registration is $15 per person and ends on Dec. 15.
Dec. 21 | Winter Solstice | Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
Come celebrate the winter solstice with us at the BVP-after hours! We welcome families to celebrate the changing of seasons with us. Enjoy refreshments and make winter solstice-themed crafts such as bird feeders, honeycomb beeswax candles, and lanterns. Registration is $10.
Dec. 29 - 31 | Pre-Season Holiday Basketball Camp | SSRC
This is a great Christmas Gift to get your hooper ready for the upcoming Basketball Season. Players will take part in a fun camp that encompasses the core concepts of Basketball. Fundamentals, team drills, individual skills and guest speakers will motivate and encourage players to be their best and to use the skills they learned at camp in the game. (Shirt Included) Registration is $80.
Dec. 30 | Glow-in-the Dark Nerf War | Valley View Recreation Center
Wear comfortable sneakers for our 10,000-square-foot glow-in-the-dark event. Bring your Nerf gun (labeled with your name) and we'll supply the strike darts (no mega darts). Protective eyewear is recommended. Dinner is provided. Late pickup charges will apply. Registration is $20.
