As of Friday, June 19, SLO County has counted 98,932 ballots, and results can be viewed at SloVote.gov/June2026. The remaining ballots include those that need to be researched or remade and those that require a signature cure. By law, voters have until 5pm on June 24 to cure their signature.
The ballots that remain unprocessed are those needing to be researched (provisional ballots cast at the polls), those needing to be remade due to damage, stray marks, or stains, and those that require a signature cure. Voters have until 5pm pm June 24 to cure their signature if they were contacted about a missing signature or a signature mismatch, and the cure form can be downloaded from SloVote.gov/June2026.
By law, counties have 30 days to complete all canvass activities and certify the election. For this primary, that certification deadline is July 2.
All ballot processing activities throughout the canvass are open to the public, and the Elections Office has been encouraging community members to come watch and ask questions so that they better understand the work going on.
"Unfortunately, only a handful of people have taken advantage of that right to observe and get clarification about what's going on," said Clerk-Recorder Elaina Cano. "It's unfortunate, especially in this time of rampant misinformation on social media and beyond. So often people read or hear something incorrect and take it to heart, not realizing that the source is misinformed."
For those who cannot make it to the Elections Center, the office has developed a number of resources and posted them to their website and seven different social media platforms. Links to each of the Clerk-Recorder's social media accounts can be found on the department website.
"Anyone with questions can also reach out by phone or email to ask for clarification about any part of the canvass," said Cano. "Our staff does a great job of fielding those inquiries and getting people the verified info they need."
The Elections phone number is 805-781-5228 and the email address is [email protected]. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the office will be sharing more details on their social media regarding voter participation rates and trends, including stats for this election by city and supervisorial district.
