Washington, D.C. - On Friday, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, voted yes on H.R. 7148, a package which included the following five funding bills: Defense, Financial Services and Government, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs, and Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development.
Remember, the Democrat controlled Senate in 2024 did not pass a single appropriations bill. The Republican Senate, however, is working at record pace and has now passed of 11 of the 12 FY 2026 appropriations bills.
"The Senate Appropriations Committee continues to push forward through regular order, achieving historic success," said Senator Mullin. "These five bipartisan bills lock in essential funding to support the safety and security of this nation. When signed into law later this week, our eleven Appropriations bills will have funded 96% of the government."
"We still have work to do to get the Department of Homeland Security fully funded," said Senator Mullin. "Whether it's the Coast Guard, Secret Service, FEMA, TSA, or any of the other critical agencies overseen by DHS, it is absolutely essential we provide them with what they need to continue to keep our communities safe."
Also included in the funding package is Senator Mullin's "Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act". This legislation will improve outcomes for children with cancer by ensuring they have access to essential treatments and can participate in critical trials. This bill will also allow children to participate in combination trials that include targeted medicines for pediatric cancer.
"Mikaela was a fighter and a fierce advocate. Through immense hardship, she showed the world what true strength and courage looks like. She never once wavered in her effort to bring awareness to the importance of patient access to life-changing therapeutics and trials," said Senator Mullin. "I am thrilled we were finally able to get this passed in her honor. May we never forget the exceptional life Mikaela led and may she be an inspiration to us all."
