WATCH: Vivek Ramaswamy Says Medicaid and Medicare Were "Mistakes"
In newly unearthed footage first shared by MeidasTouch, Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said that he believed Medicare and "particularly Medicaid" "were a mistake."
Getting rid of Medicaid and Medicare would take away health care from millions, devastate Ohio's hospitals and nursing homes and be catastrophic for families everywhere in the state, particularly rural areas. In fact, over 25% of Ohio's population relies on Medicaid and nearly 4 in 10 births in Ohio are covered by Medicaid. Additionally, nearly 20% of Ohio's population, over 2.5 million people, relies on Medicare.
"Vivek Ramaswamy didn't even need to think twice before endorsing ripping away health care from millions of Ohioans who get care from Medicaid and Medicare," said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy. "By letting slip even more of his costly, cruel, and deeply unpopular agenda, Ramaswamy is reminding Ohioans yet again why he's totally unqualified to serve as governor."
