JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - U.S. Route 63 over Interstate 70 will close overnight next week for bridge repairs. During the nighttime closure, all traffic will be routed through the I-70/U.S. Route 63 Connector.
From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight Monday, Nov. 10, and Wednesday, Nov. 12, construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation will assess and make repairs to a joint on the northbound U.S. Route 63 bridge over I-70. The bridge will be closed to all traffic each night. With U.S. Route 63 currently narrowed to one lane in each direction in a head-to-head configuration on the northbound lanes, this will route all traffic through the connector.
All work is weather dependent, and subject to change
This is part of the work to reconstruct the I-70/U.S. Route 63 interchange, which is one portion of the first project within MoDOT's Statewide Improve I-70 Program. Missouri's FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
