Mexico is forecast to enter 2027 with modest improvements in livestock productivity, expanded processing capacity, and continued growth opportunities for the beef and pork sectors. While the outbreak of New World screwworm (NWS) has disrupted traditional livestock trade flows, it has also led to adjustments in meat production and supply chains. The calf crop is forecast to increase 1 percent as retained heifers reach reproductive maturity, supporting marginal herd expansion. Beef production is forecast to remain flat as market-ready cattle continue to enter slaughter channels, supporting commercial beef output. Following recent disease challenges, the swine sector is expected to continue recovering, with improved herd productivity and production efficiency supporting a 3 percent increase in commercial slaughter and higher pork output.
