CMI Tariff Update: Fentanyl Tariff - Reduction

CMI continues to work to support our customer partners with information regarding changes in the market and in this case with upcoming changes to tariffs on Chinese imports that will affect the cost of goods.

Key information:

• A reduction in the IEEPA 'Fentanyl' tariff from 20% to 10%, effective after midnight on November 10, 2025. President Trump, in a follow up to his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea on Oct. 30, signed an Executive Order on the evening of November 4, 2025 which lowers the tariff on Chinese imports into the United States, specifically on entries after midnight on November 10, 2025.
• A 10% tariff reduction on Chinese nails, effective for goods cleared by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) after midnight on November 10, 2025. The IEEPA China nail tariff reduction of 10% will be on the FOB value of the nails and will impact all China nails that CBP clears on the announced date. • The continuation of the suspension of heightened reciprocal tariffs on imports from China until November 10, 2026. The president also signed a second Executive Order that maintains the suspension of heightened reciprocal tariffs on imports from China until 12:01 a.m. ET on November 10, 2026.
