Sangamon River Poets play comes to Lincoln's New Salem Nov. 8-9

SPRINGFIELD - The Sangamon River Poets: Masters, Lindsay, and Sandburg, a play by Dennis Camp, will be at the Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site visitors center indoor theater on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.

Lincoln's New Salem is delighted to bring this production to the area 44 years after its world premiere at Sangamon Auditorium. The play features dramatic interpretations of poetry and prose by Vachel Lindsay, Edgar Lee Masters, and Carl Sandburg. The production tells the stories of the Illinois prairie and the Sangamon River Valley.

The show features two members of the original cast, Leigh Steiner and Kevin Purcell, as well as Rich McCoy and Tom Lawton, accompanied by the traditional music of Wild Columbine.
