Stop Oak Park’s Costly New Rental Regulations

TAKE ACTION! The Oak Park Village Board is attempting to pass legislation on Tuesday, November 11 that will raise rents and reduce housing choices in Oak Park. Take Action NOW to stop this dangerous measure.

Ordinance 25-154 puts extreme limits on necessary costs, like security deposits and move-in fees, thereby. Limiting these necessary fees will raise the cost of housing and reduce safe, affordable housing choices in Oak Park.

In addition, because REALTORS® actively support and promote Fair Housing, we urge the Village to reconsider harmful provisions regarding whether every employee of a property management company, including maintenance staff, should be subject to training requirements and penalties. Restricting local housing providers' ability to recover costs while adding new training and compliance requirements will put rental housing providers in a difficult bind.

Contact your local Trustee TODAY and tell them to OPPOSE Ordinance 25-154.
