In celebration of National Poetry Month, poetry and art are taking to the streets of Santa Fe-on city buses.
Santa Fe Poet Laureate Tommy Archuleta 's Voice Project, supported by the Academy of American Poets, brings free writing workshops to unhoused writers. This April, selected poems and original artwork from participants will be featured on Santa Fe Trails buses throughout the city.
Voice Project participants from the Life Link, St. Elizabeth's Shelters, and Agape House meet weekly at the Friendship Club to write, make art, and share stories. Volunteers from the Santa Fe literary community provide group and one-on-one feedback and encouragement. Participants receive free backpacks, notebooks, and vital supplies.
This collaboration between the Arts and Culture Department and Santa Fe Trails brings powerful community voices into public view through a life-affirming, citywide exhibition.
