Siena Saints joined students from local Catholic and public schools, as well as representatives of diocesan young adult ministries, on the March 23 Pilgrimage of Hope for Climate Justice.
The group set out from St. Mary's Church in downtown Albany to the New York State Capitol, where they delivered copies of Pope Francis' landmark environmental encyclical Laudato Si' to state legislators.
"This is a nonpartisan issue that affects all New Yorkers and all human beings, regardless of race, creed, and national origin. We as Catholics feel it's our duty to speak out," says Casey Vincelette of 518 Frassati Young Adult Ministry. "Our faith tells us to never lose hope, even when our world is downtrodden and full of fear. We have high expectations that our New York politicians will make right choices to secure a future for us."
