The second day of the 7th Soft Power Conference took place today in the Parliamentary Groups Hall of the Chamber of Deputies in Rome, offering a high-profile forum for discussion on technology, information, and Italy's role on the international stage. The dialogue highlighted how collaboration between institutions, the scientific community, and businesses is essential to generating positive value and leadership in a global context. The event was promoted by Francesco Rutelli, founder and president of the Soft Power Club.
As Alberto Tripi, President of the Almaviva Group, emphasized, it was "a meeting that rightly brought together political, scientific, and business cultures, because if these worlds don't communicate with one another, it becomes difficult to make progress and build shared value. In a world as chaotic as today's, dialogue is essential if our country is to truly play a leading role." Tripi also highlighted how "we Italians culturally have the ability to manage change, and artificial intelligence represents a historic shift that shouldn't be feared, as it is augmented intelligence at the service of human intelligence. As Italians, we must be less cautious and accelerate, because we can truly stay ahead of the curve and become leaders in Europe and worldwide."
Among the keynote speakers was Valeria Sandei, CEO of Almawave, a company of the Almaviva Group, who reiterated the importance of AI as a strategic choice: "Artificial Intelligence is a strategic asset, both geopolitically and in terms of soft power. It is essential to technological sovereignty, which isn't just about data control but is, rather and above all, about skills and expertise. The technologies are already available, and the time has come not only to believe in European technology by leveraging the sovereignty of skills before it's too late, but also to adopt measurable solutions, integrate AI into existing processes, and invest in this challenge, in our know-how, and in this market. There's no need for grand announcements. We need verifiable results and the ability to make decisions."
The conference reaffirmed a shared vision: Artificial Intelligence can be a driver of progress when supported by skills, dialogue, and tangible results, all of which are essential to addressing the challenges of disinformation and strengthening both Italy's and Europe's position on the global stage.
