Jersey City Medical Center is pleased to welcome Basil Hubbi, MD, as Chair of the Department of Radiology. Dr. Hubbi joins the medical center as a RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group physician, bringing a strong background in clinical radiology, academic medicine, and physician leadership.
Dr. Hubbi is a board-certified radiologist whose experience reflects a balance of patient care, education, and operational leadership. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he supports medical education and training. His academic and leadership experience includes serving as a Residency Program Director, helping guide and mentor physicians in training.
Clinically, Dr. Hubbi's expertise includes body imaging as well as breast imaging and intervention. In addition to his clinical practice, he has contributed to initiatives focused on imaging innovation and improving access to care. This includes leading and supporting grant-funded mobile mammography programs, expanding opportunities for patients to receive essential screening services within their communities.
Dr. Hubbi has also made meaningful contributions to academic research and patient education. He has authored more than 15 publications related to imaging innovation and patient-centered education, reflecting an ongoing commitment to advancing radiology through scholarship and shared knowledge.
His dedication to education and patient care has been recognized through multiple awards and honors. These include the Golden Apple Award for Teaching, which he has received on multiple occasions, as well as the Overlook Physician Excellence Award and additional patient service recognitions. These honors underscore his focus on teaching, collaboration, and compassionate care.
As Chair of the Department of Radiology, Dr. Hubbi will support the continued delivery of high-quality imaging services at Jersey City Medical Center. His role includes working closely with physicians, technologists, and clinical teams to ensure imaging services remain aligned with the medical center's commitment to quality, safety, and patient-centered care.
