Clinical Research Trial for Personal Exoskeleton

Empowering mobility in people with spinal cord injury with a hands-free self-balancing Personal Exoskeleton

Overview

The purpose of this research study is to demonstrate the safe and effective use of Wandercraft's Personal Exoskeleton among individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) for use at home and in the community with the assistance of a companion.

About Wandercraft's Personal Exoskeleton

The Personal Exoskeleton is a robotic device that offers powered support to stand and walk again, without needing crutches.

Visits

Interested persons with spinal cord injury will be screened for medical safety and device fitting. Eligible and enrolled participants, with their companions, will learn how to use the device to walk and perform basic mobility functions in 8 sessions. Sessions will take place at a center in New York City over 3 to 4 weeks. Each training session in the device will be about 1 to 2 hours. Assessments sessions will be performed for usability, walking, mobility, and user satisfaction evaluation, lasting about 3 hours.

Why Participate?

The main benefits of this study include the opportunity to use a walking exoskeleton device, enabling activities that may not be possible in a wheelchair. Additionally, your participation contribute to research aimed at improving mobility for millions of people with walking impairments. By joining this study, you will help advance the development of personal robotics exoskeleton.

Who Can Participate?

  • Do you have a complete or incomplete motor spinal cord injury, with lesion at or above Thoracic 6 vertebra?
  • Do you have (or could get) a companion with good physical ability willing to attend the screening and 8 sessions at a center in the NYC area with you?
  • Are you 18 years or older?
