An event dedicated to the anniversary of former SCO Secretary-General Muratbek Imanaliyev opens in the SCO Secretariat in Beijing

On March 6, 2026, a celebratory event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Muratbek Imanaliyev, a prominent statesman and public figure of the Kyrgyz Republic and former Secretary-General of the SCO, was held at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing.

The meeting was attended by ambassadors, representatives of the diplomatic corps of the Organization's member states, the leadership and staff of the SCO Secretariat, as well as invited experts and guests.

SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev noted the significant contribution of Muratbek Imanaliyev to the development of cooperation within the Organization and the strengthening of an atmosphere of trust, good-neighborliness, and mutual understanding among member states. He emphasized that during Muratbek Imanaliyev's tenure as Secretary-General in 2010-2012 the SCO received a powerful impetus for institutional development and the expansion of international engagement.

The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to China, Aktilek Musaeva, in turn, stressed that Muratbek Imanaliyev is one of Kyrgyzstan's most authoritative diplomats, who made a significant contribution to the establishment of the country's modern foreign policy and the development of regional cooperation.

During the meeting participants extended warm congratulations, words of gratitude, and good wishes to Muratbek Imanaliyev. They noted his role as an experienced diplomat, a respected expert, and a mentor to new generations of specialists in the field of international relations.

A photo exhibition in honor of the jubilarian was displayed at the SCO Secretariat venue.
