Congresswoman Luz Rivas: “Kristi Noem will not be missed.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) released the following statement after the firing of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem:

"For months, House Democrats and I have called for Kristi Noem to be impeached and immediately removed from her position as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) because she was unfit to lead.

"Kristi Noem abused her power to violently carry out Trump's anti-immigrant agenda that resulted in communities being terrorized, including the San Fernando Valley. Families were torn apart and innocent lives were murdered under her tenure. The safety of our communities and the constitutional rights of our most vulnerable were continually violated by Kristi Noem, DHS, and ICE.

"Kristi Noem was a bad fit to lead DHS. She - just like the rest of Trump's cabinet secretaries of billionaires and weird TV personalities - blindly and chaotically carried out his anti-American agenda. She was part of a cabinet whose sole purpose is to enrich Donald Trump and not work on the issues that the American people are facing every day.

"Kristi Noem is incompetent, but the reason Trump fired her is because he did not like her testimony in front of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees where she took cover at Trump's poor judgement and bruised his super ego.

"Kristi Noem will not be missed."
