WASHINGTON - Press registration is now open for AGU's 2026 annual meeting in San Francisco, California, 7 to 11 December 2026 at the George R. Moscone Convention Center.

More than 24,000 attendees will present research on a broad range of Earth and space sciences. Join us for the latest science news from the bottom of Earth's oceans to distant planets, climate past and future, Arctic change, wildfires, earthquakes, El Niño and much more.

REGISTER AS PRESS HERE

Staff, freelance and student journalists are eligible to apply for complimentary press registration until the end of the conference on Friday, 11 December. Eligible press should complete registration through the online portal before arrival; walk-in press registration will not be available on site in San Francisco.

Press officers and institutional writers covering the meeting are also eligible for press registration. Additional information for press can be found in the conference Press Center. A press event schedule will be available in November. Press conferences will be hybrid, recorded events.

Media registrants receive, at no charge, access to all scientific sessions and an on-site press room, along with press events. Some events and activities, including but not limited to invitation-only events and communications workshops, are not open to press registrants.

Please visit the AGU26 Press Center to register and to learn more about eligibility and credentialing requirements. Media access is non-transferable. All registrants must provide credentials regardless of whether they have attended in the past.

Virtual attendance and content

Recordings of plenaries, named lectures, Union sessions, oral sessions, GeoBurst sessions and town halls will be available on-demand on the conference platform within 72 hours of the live sessions. Poster presenters will have the option to upload posters to the online poster gallery. Online presenters can self-schedule video discussions with conference attendees. No part of the 2026 scientific program will be livestreamed. The conference program will be available online in early October.

AGU media relations will host two types of informational events for attending press: press conferences on breaking research findings and in-person-only roundtables designed to discuss ongoing research projects, missions and programs in an informal, ask-me-anything style. Press conferences will be livestreamed and support participation by remote reporters.

On-site press room

Registered press attendees will have access to the press room with dedicated Wi-Fi, working and discussion space, power outlets, refreshments, and smaller quiet rooms for conducting interviews.

The press room will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time (UTC-8 hours), Monday through Thursday. Friday hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PT.

The meeting will be held at the George R. Moscone Convention Center, 747 Howard St., San Francisco, CA 94103.

Some events and sessions will also take place at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, 780 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94103 and at InterContinental San Francisco, 888 Howard St., San Francisco, CA 94103.

Book hotels at conference rates during press registration or return to the booking page to book housing after registration. Bookings close 19 November but may fill before that date.
