Accused Burglar Arraigned for Series of Crimes in Buffalo

Tuesday, September 16, 2025

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Dale E. Gabler, 52, of no permanent address, was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Gary A. Wilson, Jr. on ten separate cases. Gabler has been charged with a total of eight counts of Burglary in the Second Degree (Class C felonies), one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class D felony), sixteen counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E felonies), fifteen counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree (Class E felonies), four counts of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (Class A misdemeanors), one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A misdemeanor), one count of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree (Class A misdemeanor), three counts of Petit Larceny (Class A misdemeanors) and one count of Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree (Class B misdemeanor).

It is alleged that on Tuesday, September 15, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the defendant was arrested on the 800 block of Amherst Street in the City of Buffalo. The defendant is accused of burglarizing a nearby home and attempting to steal a vehicle when he was confronted by the homeowners. The defendant was allegedly found in possession of several stolen credit cards when he was placed under arrest. The defendant is accused of committing a series of similar crimes at several locations in the City of Buffalo between September 5, 2025, and September 15, 2025.

At the time of his arrest, Gabler was pending prosecution for another crime. It is alleged that on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Buffalo Police responded to the 100 block of Babcock Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The defendant was allegedly found in possession of a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier the same day from Columbus Parkway. It is further alleged that the defendant was found in possession of several stolen credit cards.

On Friday, September 5, 2025, Gabler was arraigned on one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class D felony), seven counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree (Class E felonies) and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A misdemeanor). He was released on his own recognizance as the charges are non-qualifying offenses for bail. A bench warrant was issued after the defendant failed to appear in court for a felony hearing on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Our office filed a bail revocation motion as the defendant is accused of committing additional crimes while released on his own recognizance. Judge Wilson revoked his release and Gabler was held without bail.

Gabler is scheduled to return on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail on eight of the files.

If convicted of the highest charge, Gable faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Additional charges may be filed.

DA Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in these ongoing investigations.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rachel L. Schepart of the Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
