In a historic and unprecedented moment, the Government of India today marked the 200th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule with solemn tributes at the Parliament House Complex, signifying the nation's highest institutional recognition of one of its greatest social reformers.
For the first time ever, floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule within the Parliament premises at Prerna Sthal, led by Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon'ble President of India, and Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, along with Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon'ble Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, the Hon'ble Speaker of Lok Sabha, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and other distinguished dignitaries.
National Leaders paid floral tributes to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule at Prerna Sthal in the Parliament House Complex, leading the nation in remembering the legendary social reformer whose pioneering work in education, social equality, and upliftment of marginalized communities continues to inspire generations.
The ceremony reflected a unified national homage to Mahatma Phule's enduring legacy as a visionary educator, social reformer, and champion of the oppressed.
The entire commemorative initiative has been coordinated by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, as the nodal agency, with programme activities anchored at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center (DAIC), New Delhi.
This landmark tribute marks the formal beginning of year-long nationwide celebrations (April 2026 - April 2027) announced by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, aimed at taking the ideals of education, equality, and social justice envisioned by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule to every corner of the country.
The ceremony stands as a testament to the nation's collective resolve to honour and carry forward the transformative vision of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule in building an inclusive and just India.
