Interactive City Hall Event to launch Zoning 101 Tour
Dallas, Texas - The City of Dallas Planning & Development Department will launch the Zoning 101 Tour on Tuesday, July 21 at Dallas City Hall. Entitled "How Dallas Takes Shape" is an interactive public event that will offer residents a hands-on introduction to zoning, growth, and the rules shaping where people live, work, move, gather, and grow.
The Zoning 101 Tour is a part of the public engagement for Dallas Zoning Reform. The tour provides an opportunity for residents to learn, ask questions, and stay connected throughout Dallas Zoning Reform process. Dallas Zoning Reform is an effort to update Dallas' Development Code to create a code that is simple, clear, and future ready.
Unlike a traditional presentation or public meeting, the July 21st event will invite attendees to move through an interactive, museum-style experience featuring learning stations, visual displays, staff conversations, and opportunities to share questions and feedback.
"Zoning shapes so much of how people experience Dallas, from housing and transportation to neighborhood services, public spaces, and local businesses," said Dr. Andreea Udrea, City of Dallas Planning and Development Deputy Director. "The Zoning 101 Tour is about making those connections easier to understand and creating more opportunities for residents to participate in the conversation."
The first event will take place at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla Street, with two opportunities to attend: 11 a.m. -1 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Both sessions will offer the same experience. The tour will continue with future conversations including:
-
Getting Around Dallas: Shaping the connections between homes, jobs, and transit.
-
Keeping Dallas Creative: Supporting cultural spaces, artists, and neighborhood identity.
-
Building Healthy Neighborhoods: Improving individual and public health through healthy communities.
-
Cooler Blocks, Greener Streets: Supporting more trees, shade, open space, and comfort.
