Global Sumud Flotilla
The Brazilian Government is monitoring, with concern, the movements of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is currently sailing in the Mediterranean towards the Gaza Strip. The flotilla is loaded with humanitarian aid, and on board of which are Brazilian citizens, including members of Parliament.
Brazil urges the Israeli authorities to comply with all applicable norms of international law and international humanitarian law, ensuring the safety of civilians and vessels of a strictly peaceful and humanitarian nature.
Brazil further underscores the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation, calling upon all parties to refrain from illegal or violent acts against the aforementioned Flotilla.
The Brazilian embassies in the region have been instructed to monitor the situation and remain on standby to provide assistance to Brazilian nationals.
