Building Community Capacity for Coral-Positive Action

September 18, 2025

19 August 2025 - NGOs and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) from Addu and Fuvahmulah came together for a Small Grants Proposal Writing Workshop under the Maldives RREEF Project, supported by UNDP Maldives, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Blue Carbon Council, with funding from the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR).

The workshop aimed to strengthen the ability of local organizations to design effective project proposals that drive coral-positive action and support sustainable livelihoods. By equipping NGOs and CBOs with practical skills in proposal development, the initiative empowers communities to access funding opportunities and implement impactful, locally driven solutions for reef protection and resilience.

This training forms part of the Maldives RREEF Project's broader effort to support innovative, community-led approaches to safeguarding coral reefs while promoting inclusive and sustainable economic opportunities for island communities.
