The Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act (CRGA), signed into law by Governor Pritzker on January 8, 2026, directs the Illinois Power Agency (IPA) to facilitate the procurement of energy storage resources and evaluate the potential for a "Storage for All" program.
The Agency has published a new Energy Storage web page to provide interested stakeholders with detailed information on the IPA's work to bring 3,000 MW of energy storage projects online across Illinois by 2030. This new web page aims to act as an information hub for this burgeoning work area for the Agency. The web page provides currently available details surrounding the 2026 storage procurement process and how to sign up to be involved in future stakeholder feedback sessions related to development of a Storage for All program.
Additionally, the web page features links to helpful resources such as: equity requirements, relevant fact sheets, and other resources. With this web page, the IPA hopes to enhance understanding of interested parties of IPA's responsibilities and efforts as it relates to energy storage work.
