Creative Greensboro Celebrates New Art Created in Partnership with Greensboro Mutual Aid

The community is invited to celebrate the unveiling of Creative Greensboro's new public art in East Greensboro at 11 am on Saturday, October 3, at the East White Oak Community Center.

Through Creative Greensboro's Neighborhood Arts program, and in partnership with Greensboro Mutual Aid and the East White Oak community, residents helped inform a series of new creative installations designed to reflect and enhance the neighborhood. The projects include a new mural at Peeler Recreation Center, artist-designed basketball backboards at Bywoods Park, and a new Little Free Library with wayfinding signage at the East White Oak Community Center.

Greensboro Mutual Aid received a $15,000 grant in 2025 from Creative Greensboro to support the creation of new artwork. This grantee organization launched "Community Cornerstone: Honoring East White Oak Community Center," a multifaceted art project to raise awareness about this historic site, and selected artists Myles Wilder, Aminah Coppage, and Jalani Maxwell to complete the work.
