BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Department of Political Science will hold the 2026 Lamb Peace Lecture, featuring political theorist and Ohio State University professor Benjamin McKean, at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 13, in Room 115 of the Education Building.

As part of his free, public presentation titled "Hope, Despair and Nonviolence in a Warming World," McKean will highlight how the idea of hope is used to motivate political action and how peaceful social change can seem difficult to attain in today's society.

At Ohio State, McKean is an associate professor of political science, where his primary research focuses on global justice, populism and the relationship between theory and practice. His works have been published in multiple academic journals, including the American Political Science Review, Political Theory, the Journal of Politics and the Critical Review of International, Social and Political Philosophy.

McKean earned a doctorate from Princeton University and was a Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts at the University of Chicago.

Free parking for McKean's presentation will be available in lots A, G, N and Q for attendees who register their vehicle at offstreet.io/events/WUZ8NMX4.

Supported by the Edward Lamb Foundation, the Lamb Peace Lecture brings speakers to BGSU who are dedicated to promoting peace and social justice.

The lecture is presented in honor of late Toledo attorney Edward Lamb and continues on in the memory of late BGSU political science professor Marc V. Simon.
