For the past two decades, Thales in the UK has proudly partnered with Combat Stress, the nation's leading mental health charity for veterans. Since the partnership began, together with our employees, we have raised over £400,000 to support specialist mental health services for former members of the British Armed Forces. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2026, we're committing to do even more by doubling the impact of every donation raised this year with a £60,000 match from the Thales Charitable Trust.
Transitioning to civilian life is often a significant challenge for veterans, particularly those affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Complex-PTSD, and moral injury. Combat Stress has been at the forefront of supporting these individuals, offering expert clinical care and vital support to help former servicemen and women, and their families, rebuild their lives. Since its founding over 100 years ago, the charity has remained steadfast in its belief that military trauma should not define the future of those who served.
Our enduring partnership with Combat Stress is guided by Thales' core values of trust, innovation, and social responsibility. As a global technology leader in defence, security, and aerospace, we recognise the deep ties we share with the armed forces community. With around 10% of our UK colleagues having military backgrounds or close family connections, our commitment is both personal and professional.
By raising awareness and vital funds, we help Combat Stress to break cycles of isolation, unemployment, and homelessness that disproportionately affect veterans living with mental health challenges. Our efforts are strengthened this year by the Thales Charitable Trust's pledge to match up to £60,000 of employee and community fundraising, a powerful way to double the difference we can make, together.
Supporting veterans' mental health is integral to our broader commitment to responsible and sustainable business. Our partnership with Combat Stress helps advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16).
For Thales, corporate social responsibility means building long-term, genuine relationships with causes that matter. Our two-decade partnership with Combat Stress demonstrates our belief in collective action, supporting those who served so they can thrive in civilian life.
As we celebrate this 20-year milestone, we invite our partners, clients, and communities to get involved. Support fundraising initiatives, raise awareness, or donate directly to Combat Stress. Together, we can help ensure every veteran in need gets the support they deserve.
