NEW YORK - Everytown for Gun Safety and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, issued the following statements in response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
"Political violence of any sort is absolutely unacceptable, full stop," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Civil discourse is the bedrock of this nation, and we must all work toward a future where we can resolve our differences with words, not violence."
"Political violence has no place in our democracy. We all deserve better than this," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "Each day that lawmakers fail to act, our schools, neighborhoods, and entire communities will continue to be devastated and traumatized by gun violence."
"This heinous act of gun violence is unacceptable - we all have the right to engage in conversation without the fear of being shot," said Jaden Christensen, a volunteer with the Utah chapter of Moms Demand Action. "Lawmakers must hear the gunfire echoing across our communities for what it is: a blaring sign that demands urgent action."
