Day 26 of the Schumer-Gallego-Kelly Shutdown

Senate Democrats, including Arizona Democrat Senators Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly, for the twelfth time this week, voted against reopening the federal government. Perhaps worse, they also voted against a bill to pay active-duty members of the military and other essential federal employees who have been required to work during the government shutdown. Congressional Democrats continue to celebrate their shutdown. This week, Massachusetts Representative Katherine Clark, the second-highest-ranking Democrat in Congress, openly admitted Democrats are willing to make American families suffer just to gain political leverage by stating that "shutdowns are terrible, and of course, there will be families that are going to suffer. But it is one of the few leverage times we have." Democrats once claimed to care about the harm that shutdowns caused hardworking Americans, but now we can all see very clearly that was always based on politics and not principle.

Earlier this week, the American Federation of Government Employees Local 2391, which represents a handful of Arizona workers, held a press conference to highlight that over 34,000 federal employees in Arizona are not getting paid or have been furloughed. To them I say: Contact your Democrat Senators, they need to hear from you. The solution is easy: a fully funded budget resolution awaits the Senators. Your pay is being held up by selfish Democrats in the Senate. Let me remind you that House Republicans did our job by passing a clean continuing resolution on Sept. 19 and are committed to keeping the government OPEN. Unfortunately, the extreme left of the Democrat Party is paralyzing Senate Democrats. That's because liberal New York Senator Chuck Schumer is terrified that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or AOC, is going to primary him, so he is bowing to her pressure to keep the government shut down.

But Congressman Gosar, what about Democrats' argument that they shut the government down because of the COVID-19 expansion of Obamacare? I'm glad you asked. Here are the facts: the COVID-19 pandemic is long over. How do we know this? Well, for one reason, Joe Biden signed into law my legislation ending the COVID-19 national emergency more than two years ago! Importantly, the COVID-19 expansion of Obamacare was always meant to be temporary, and it was NEVER part of the original Affordable Care Act. In fact, it was the Democrats who came up with the December 2025 expiration date for its expansion and they voted not once but twice to make it temporary during the COVID-19 pandemic!Not a single Republican in Congress voted for the expanded Obamacare subsidies. Democrats lied to the American people when they promised their expansion of these subsidies was only temporary and to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Now Democrats are shutting down the government unless these COVID-19 credits are made permanent and the continued inclusion of illegal aliens in Medicare. Not because they care about the health of Americans, but because they receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in political contributions from the health insurance industry and its lobbyists. In fact, most health care executives overwhelmingly donate to Democrats. Care to guess why? Because they want to ensure the continuation and expansion of Obamacare so they can get even more filthy rich. How? Because the insurance subsidies go directly to the insurance companies, not the people. Now premiums are higher, Big Insurance is greedier, and the Democrats are doing Big Insurance's bidding with this government shutdown.

Here's one of the many problems with Obamacare, Federal investigators revealed this week that the COVID-19 expansion of Obamacare led to an estimated $35 billion in fraudulent enrollments. National watchdogs estimate that there are more than 12 million phantom Obamacare enrollees, costing taxpayers billions. Americans for Prosperity noted that the "temporary COVID subsidies reward insurance companies, encourage fraud, and waste billions of dollars while failing to care for families and people who need it." Translation: the COVID-19 pandemic subsidies turned Obamacare into corporate welfare, sending billions to insurance companies for patients that don't exist.

Back to my original points, Democrats are masking the real reason for the shutdown: Schumer is terrified of AOC.

Need to Get Away This Thanksgiving? Expect Flight Cancellations.

The White House warned this week that if the Democrats continue to keep the government shut down up to Thanksgiving, there likely will be significant flight delays, disruptions, and cancellations in major airports across the country this holiday season. That's because the Schumer shutdown is causing severe impacts at airports across the country. 13,000 air traffic controllers, who ensure that we all fly safely, are continuing to work without pay. With the Thanksgiving holidays approaching, we are nearing the busiest travel period of the entire year, when millions of Americans will go to airports to spend time with their loved ones. If Democrats continue to shut down the government, they will also be shutting down American air travel. Isn't it time for Arizona Democrat Senators Gallego and Kelly to grow a spine, stand up to Senator Schumer and vote to reopen the federal government? ✈

Illegal Alien Murdered an American, Entered the U.S. Using Biden's App

An illegal alien charged with murdering a Texas woman earlier this month entered the United States using Joe Biden's CBP One app. If this sounds vaguely familiar, it should. Faithful Gosar Newsletter readers will recall I wrote extensively about Biden's CBP One app several months ago. What's that? You missed that newsletter? No worries, click hereto get quickly caught up. To refresh your memory, the CBP One app was the cellular app introduced by Joe Biden and used by illegal aliens to assist with their illegal entry into our nation. That's correct - Joe Biden, using your tax dollars, paid for, created and operated a phone app installed on "free" cellphones that we paid for to assist cartels, human smugglers and sex traffickers bring children, drugs, guns, and illegal aliens (many of them criminals in their home country) into our country. Thankfully, when President Donald J. Trump returned to office in January, his administration shut down the CBP Oneapp, but not before over one million lawbreakersused the app to enter our country, including an illegal accused of recently murdering a Texas woman. According to news reports this week, authorities confirm that the illegal crossed into our country in July 2023 through Hidalgo, Texas, using Biden's CBP One app. By the way, countless other violent criminals, including three suspected Islamic State members and two alleged Tren de Aragua gang members, have entered the United States using the app. Incidentally, results of a new poll released this week by Rasmussenfound that 70% of Democrats want amnesty for illegals. Sick! If ever there needed to be another reason to support President Trump's efforts to find, arrest and deport every illegal alien, this is surely it.

DHS Arrests 500,000 illegals

Speaking of arresting illegal aliens, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Kristi Noem announced this week that more than half of a million illegals have been arrestedand another two million have been deported since President Trump was sworn in. Since President Trump took office, the southern border has been secured, construction of the wall has resumed, and the amount of deadly fentanyl seized along the border has fallen 53%. Promises made, promises kept.

Water is Fighting Over

As many of you know, I have said for years that in Arizona "whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting over." There is a lot of truth to this platitude. That's because water is scarce in many parts of Arizona, and we have developed a complex system of laws, regulations, federal and state regulatory agencies, along with dams, canals and other resources to use and conserve water.

Earlier in June 2023, the Governor of Arizona placed a moratorium on new home building in the greater Phoenix area Arizona because of water concerns. The moratorium had an immediate impact on our economy, affordable housing, and jobs. This week, however, the Arizona Department of Water Resources partially lifted the building moratorium on new development, allowing 60,000 new homes on the drawing board, a fraction of what Arizona needs, but a start. The developer of the planned expansion has set forth a plan to bring in outside renewable water supplies.

Unfortunately, Arizona's Governor Hobbs, issued a statement this week declaring her number one water policy for Arizona as modernizing "Arizona's water supply by better conserving and managing our water." Again, no amount of "conservation" will propel our state into prosperity and growth. I am, like all of you, against wasting water. The solution is technical, mechanical and financial. We know how to desalinate. We know how to pump water, and we know how to transport water in pipelines. The answer is new water, not endless talks about conservation.

I have championed water expansion projects throughout my tenure in Congress. I am on record supporting dam repairs, hydro-expansion including mini hydro dams on canals, solar panels over canals for energy, and of course, the exploration of desalination plants and water pipelines to Arizona. Ultimately, for Arizona to grow and maintain its population and industry base, it needs new water brought in. One idea presented to me that has potential is building desalination plants in Mexico and creating up to 1.5-million-acre feet of water that is then delivered to Mexico. In exchange, the lower basin states of the Colorado River Compact, including Arizona, would take the 1.5-million-acre feet promised to Mexico from the Colorado River. As a result, Arizona and California could get a large quantity of new water as we replace the same amount in Mexico. All of this will take significant engineering, planning and cooperation, but one thing remains: Arizona needs new water, and I simply cannot conserve its way into prosperity.

It's True: Joe Biden's FEMA Ordered to Skip Homes w/Trump Signs

A damning report issued this weekby the Department of Homeland Security confirmed what I wrote about several months ago: Joe Biden's administration instructed FEMA hurricane relief workers to skip homes with Trump signs following the devastating 2024 hurricanes. At the time, the Fake News, including the New York Times, accused President Trump of lying. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on which I serve even held a congressional hearing last November demanding Biden's FEMA Administrator, Deanne Criswell, answer questions regarding her employees instructing relief workers to bypass hurricane-impacted homes displaying signs for President Trump. At the hearing, I questioned then-Administrator Criswell about the growing list of reports from within FEMA about the discriminatory guidance provided to its employees to avoid homes and withhold relief based on political affiliations of disaster survivors. Despite credible allegations of widespread discrimination, Administrator Criswell denied it.

Guess what? Trump was right, again. Reports of FEMA disaster assistance teams bypassing homes displaying signs supporting then-presidential candidate Donald Trump were true and were indicative of a pattern tracing back to 2021, according to the report. For years, FEMA employees under the Biden administration intentionally delayed much-needed aid to Americans suffering from natural disasters on purely political grounds. This should horrify every American. FEMA has a responsibility to use taxpayer dollars effectively and deliver assistance wherever the need is and free of political prejudice.
