TYPE OF INCIDENT: Hit & Run Collision with Major Injury
DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: 10/22/25 at 8:00PM
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 300 Ballantyne St., El Cajon, CA

Traffic Investigators examined debris from the collision scene and identified the involved vehicle as a BMW X5. Investigators searched an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) database and other investigative databases to identify a possible match on a white BMW X5 that was in the area at the time of the collision. Detectives located the vehicle parked at a business in Lakeside, CA and confirmed the vehicle had damage consistent with debris left at the collision scene. Police arrested 35-year-old Dani Korkis of Lakeside, believed to be the driver of the BMW at the time of the hit and run collision. Korkis was booked into County Jail on felony hit and run charges.
The injured juvenile remains in the hospital in stable condition.

RESUME OF INCIDENT:
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM, the El Cajon Police Department received reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision in the 300 block of Ballantyne St. Responding officers and paramedics found a 12-year-old in the roadway with major head trauma. The vehicle involved in the collision had fled the scene. Paramedics transported the juvenile to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. The El Cajon Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify the hit and run vehicle; described by witnesses as a white or silver SUV having front end damage.
