LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. - Sept. 2, 2026 - From childhood birthdays and family vacations to snapshots of loved ones and everyday life, photos hold pieces of our histories that can't be replaced. Yet, many of these memories remain tucked away in boxes, vulnerable to damage, time and unexpected disasters like floods and fires. This September, Epson is teaming up again with The Photo Managers to support Save Your Photos Month, a global awareness campaign dedicated to helping individuals and families protect treasured photo and video memories and the stories behind them. Now in its 12th year, this year's "One Photo, One Story" campaign invites people everywhere to choose one meaningful photo and share the story behind it on social media using #OnePhotoOneStory, underscoring the importance of preserving both photos and the stories that give them meaning.
"Photos hold our family stories, milestones and the voices of the people we love, but too often, the story behind a photo is lost long before the photo itself," said Cathi Nelson, founder of The Photo Managers. "This year's 'One Photo, One Story' campaign is about encouraging families to preserve both. With free educational resources and easy-to-use technology like the FastFoto®, protecting and sharing these meaningful memories and the stories behind them is more accessible than ever."
Save Your Photos Month began as a grassroots response to catastrophic disasters including the Joplin tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy and the Calgary floods, which destroyed countless irreplaceable family photo collections. It has since grown into a global movement offering free education, expert advice and events every September to teach people how to digitize, organize and preserve their photo and video collections.
New for 2026, The Photo Managers is inviting everyone to participate in the "One Photo, One Story" campaign. Participants will choose one meaningful photo, share the story behind it in writing or through a short video or voice recording, and post it on social media using #OnePhotoOneStory. Every share helps raise awareness that photos and their stories are worth protecting and that resources and professional help are available.
As families look to protect their printed photo collections, today's at-home scanning technology can help make digitization easier. FastFoto FF-680W, the world's fastest personal photo scanner,1 helps simplify the process of turning printed photos into digital files that can be organized, preserved and shared. FastFoto can scan up to 36 photos per batch at speeds as fast as one photo per second.2 It can also capture both the front and back of photos, helping preserve handwritten notes, dates and other details along with the image, and with intelligent file organization tools and Easy Auto-Upload, it allows users to upload images to cloud services such as Dropbox® and Google Drive.TM3
"Save Your Photos Month brings awareness to the need to protect the photos and stories that connect us to our families and our past," said Stacey Tieu, senior product manager, retail scanners, Epson America, Inc. "As someone who lives in southern California, I've seen firsthand accounts of people who have lost their homes, photos and precious memories. The campaign shows how important it is to encourage families to digitize their photos so memories can be preserved."
Throughout September, The Photo Managers will provide free education, expert advice and resources designed to help families protect their photos, take control of their collections and preserve their family stories. Highlights include:
The educational programming will focus on four key areas throughout the month, including Week One - Protecting Your Printed Photos, Week Two - Protecting Your Digital Photos, Week Three - Taking Control of Your Collection and Week Four - Preserving Your Family Story.
