With hiring of Laura W. Salama, MD, Dartmouth Cancer Center now offers patients only breast medical oncologist in southern New Hampshire

Laura W. Salama, MD, has joined Dartmouth Cancer Center. Seeing patients at Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics Manchester and Nashua, Salama is the first breast medical oncologist in southern New Hampshire.

"At Dartmouth Cancer Center, I work with a team of experts to offer the best possible care," Salama said. "It is important to explain what a diagnosis means and help choose treatment options that fit each person's needs and lifestyle. Each plan is based on evidence and tailored to individual circumstances and goals. I support clinical trials, which give access to new therapies and help improve care. I am grateful to walk beside patients through every step. My promise is to deliver expert, compassionate care with steady support and honest partnership."

Salama attended medical school at Alexandria University in Egypt, completed internal medicine residencies at the Presidential Armed Forces Hospital in Egypt and Florida Atlantic University, and was fellowship-trained in hematology and oncology at Brown University. Salama is board-certified in internal medicine and is an assistant professor of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Her areas of focus include early-stage and metastatic breast cancer, as well as clinical trials.

"Dr. Salama is already working on opening up three clinical trials at Dartmouth Cancer Center's southern New Hampshire locations," said Kimberly G. Ellis, MD, a breast surgeon with Dartmouth Cancer Center based at Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics Manchester and Concord. "With her on board, we now have a full conglomerate of breast-specific trained physicians at our Manchester clinic. Having a team that has sub-specialty training means we can keep more patients close to home for their treatment, while receiving the latest and greatest in breast oncology innovation."
