Olszewski Issues Statement on Passing of Congressman Sylvester Turner

(Washington, DC) - Congressman Johnny Olszewski today issued the following statement on the passing of Congressman Sylvester Turner, a Democrat from Texas:

"I am deeply saddened to have learned of the sudden passing of my friend and colleague, Congressman Sylvester Turner. My heart goes out to his family and his staff, both in Washington and in Texas. This loss will also be felt deeply by his constituents who, not too long ago, smartly elevated him to the United States Congress.

Congressman Turner was beloved by our freshman class for his soft-spoken and kind-hearted nature. We bonded over our shared experience in state legislature and as executives in local government. Congressman Turner was a former mayor who had deftly navigated his city through challenges including a global pandemic and major hurricane. He had a passion for government efficiency and expanding economic opportunity for all Americans. We all owe Congressman Turner a debt of gratitude for his life of service."
