The Lipscomb community is mourning the loss of Randy Bostic, assistant professor of kinesiology, who passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15.
Bostic founded Lipscomb's sport analytics program, which launched in 2024. As a faculty member, he taught kinesiology and sports management classes. In addition, he served as an adjunct professor in the College of Business for several years.
In 1993, Bostic came to the university as a student-athlete, playing baseball for the Bisons. After an injury ended his playing career, he continued serving the team as a student-coach under head coach Ken Dugan. He graduated from Lipscomb with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997. He also holds a Master of Science degree from Harding University, and a J.D. from the University of Memphis School of Law.
Beyond Lipscomb, Bostic was the founder of Bostic Law, PLLC, and was deeply engaged in the community. He served with Ciudad de Angeles, the Old Timers Baseball Board and the Brentwood Rotary Club, and he generously gave his time as a youth baseball, softball and basketball coach. He was also a member of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ in Nashville.
Bostic is survived by his wife, Amanda ('02), and their children, Reid, a 10th-grade student at Lipscomb Academy, and Kayleigh, a 9th-grade student at the academy. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
