Minnesota State Moorhead nursing programs earn national accreditation

Moorhead, Minn., July 27, 2026 - Minnesota State Moorhead's undergraduate and graduate nursing programs have earned initial accreditation from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), a nationally recognized accrediting body for nursing education programs.

The accreditation, granted for the maximum six year term, covers Minnesota State Moorhead's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, including its pre-licensure and RN-BS distance tracks, and its Master's Degree in Nursing program, which includes leadership, education and distance learning tracks. Both programs were found compliant with all NLN CNEA standards of accreditation, affirming the quality of curriculum, clinical preparation and student outcomes across the school.

"Earning this recognition reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff to preparing nurses who are ready to lead and make an impact in healthcare," says Dr. Alicia Swanson, Chief Academic Nursing Administrator. "It assures students that when they choose Minnesota State Moorhead, they are enrolling in a program that meets the highest national standards for nursing education."

The decision followed a comprehensive review process that included a self-study report and an on-site evaluation by an NLN CNEA review team earlier this year. Accreditation is effective through November 2031, with the program's next on-site evaluation scheduled for spring of that year.
