Discogs Launches “Dis/Connect,” a Global Day to Unplug and Reconnect Through Music

One Day. No Noise. Only Music.

Portland OR, September 10, 2025 - Discogs, the world's leading music discovery and record collecting platform, has announced the launch of Dis/Connect, a global day to unplug from digital distractions and reconnect with the joy of listening to music. On Saturday, October 18, 2025, music lovers everywhere are invited to silence the scroll, skip the stream, and give their full attention to the ritual of listening to records.

Dis/Connect is a global, community-driven celebration that anyone can join, from anywhere in the world. Whether you're an artist, label, hi-fi bar, record store or record collector, the invitation is the same: step away from screens (even from Discogs) and give yourself over fully to music. In a world of constant distraction, Dis/Connect asks music fans to choose connection over consumption. Some may host a listening party with friends, while others may spin records alone at home. Participants are encouraged to rediscover their collections, play albums from start to finish, or curate a vibe inspired by mood, genre, or decade. However it's experienced, Dis/Connect is about creating space for real-world connection and honoring music in its purest form.

"Imagine a moment where collectors everywhere log off, grab some records, and just listen," says Kevin Lewandowski, Discogs' Founder and CEO. "That's a powerful moment to share with others who love music as much as we do, whether you're spinning alone or with friends."

How to Take Part

  • Spread the word. Share the invitation (available here ) with your community so others can join.
  • Disconnect. Put the phone down, step away from the computer, and skip the stream for one day.
  • Play records. Revisit old favorites, dig deep into your collection, or drop the needle on something new.
  • Reflect, then share. If you'd like, post about your experience the next day and tag @discogs.

"In a world drowning in noise, Dis/Connect feels like an act of rebellion," says Jeffrey Smith, Vice President of Marketing at Discogs. "We're asking people to step away from their screens, even from Discogs, to remember that feeling of joy that comes from real connection. From community. From the music that makes you feel alive"
