Treasurer Brad Briner, who chairs the State Health Plan Board of Trustees (Board), has nominated Dr. Daniel Moore to join the Board. Moore is a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor in the Greenville area and has over two decades of experience as a faculty member at East Carolina University School of Medicine.
Moore will be filling the seat currently held by Judge Wilton "Rusty" Duke, Jr. Duke's term on the Board expires on June 30th.
"The addition of another practicing physician on the Board will bring invaluable insights on the challenges in healthcare today," said Treasurer Brad Briner. "We look forward to Dr. Moore's contributions as we tackle affordability, sustainability and continued access to care for 750,000 of our members."
Briner went on to say, "We want to thank Judge Duke for his dedication and acumen on the Board. We have faced some tough decisions over the last year, and he has helped us deliberate and navigate the Plan out of a critical financial position."
In addition, Treasurer Briner is re-appointing Board Vice-Chair Dr. Brian Miller to serve another term.
