Charges Forthcoming Against a 14-Year-Old Who Stole Fire Department Brush Truck

Charges will be forthcoming against a 14-year-old who tonight stole a Nashville Fire Department brush truck from Station 35 on Hobson Pike after he showed up at the facility, said he intended to kill himself, and activated a fire alarm.

As the teen drove off in the truck, he hit a responding MNPD car. A pursuit ensued along Murfreesboro Pike, during which officers deployed multiple spike strips. The pursuit ended at Murfreesboro Pike and Una Antioch Pike when the truck lost a tire and struck two vehicles. Additionally, a scooter rider was able to jump off before the truck hit the scooter. The teen was taken into custody and transported to a hospital to be checked out. Three adult civilians received minor injuries as a result of the crashes.
