The fourth meeting of Thematic Panel 2, entitled 'Prevention of radicalisation and terrorism-related offending: Rehabilitation and restorative approaches for those serving long-term sentences', took place on 17-18 March 2026, in Brussels, and brought together 34 participants, including the Co-leaders, the Secretariat (Research and Logistics teams), the Policy Officer, a Special Advisor, a representative from the Council of Europe, as well as 23 TP2 Members from 13 countries.
The Thematic Panel 2 of the EU Knowledge Hub on the Prevention of Radicalisation is mandated to conduct work aiming at supporting the EU Member States and priority Third countries to effectively prevent radicalisation in prisons while improving the rehabilitation and reintegration of persons sentenced to terrorism-related crimes, assessed as radical or extremist, or vulnerable to radicalisation. The meeting included experience-sharing, group work, plenary discussions, and a planning station exercise to draw conclusions and recommendations for successful intervention.
