New Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center Opens in Redding

REDDING, CALIF. - Sept. 1, 2026 - Dignity Health - Mercy Medical Center Redding has opened the Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center at 2396 Henderson Road. The $70 million facility consolidates cancer services to provide treatment for patients in Northern California.

The Mercy Redding oncology team provides care to more than 3,200 individuals annually. Nearly half of these patients travel from outside of Redding, including Shasta, Tehama, Trinity, Siskiyou, Lassen and Modoc counties. The center provides oncology services to reduce travel for patients.

The facility's opening followed a ribbon-cutting ceremony in mid-August held in partnership with the Redding Chamber of Commerce. During the ceremony, Congressman James Gallagher presented a congressional certificate to Mercy Redding President G. Todd Smith and the project team. Community members and patients toured the facility following the ceremony.

"Having walked this journey with the Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center from its earliest blueprint to this opening, this day holds significance," said G. Todd Smith, President of Mercy Medical Center Redding. "This center provides access to care for patients in the North State close to home."

Mercy Foundation North raised more than $11.5 million in community donations, including a $3 million donation from Sierra Pacific Industries. The remaining balance of the $70 million project was funded by CommonSpirit Health. The center begins welcoming patients this week.
